The recent death of Sir Rupert Hamer reminded us all of the significant contribution he made to the arts and the reasons why he placed such importance on the role of the arts for the community. Now, more than 20 years since the Arts Centre opened, the community celebrates his remarkable contribution with the announcement by the Premier that the Melbourne Concert Hall has been renamed Hamer Hall.
